Hello, I'm planning to build a small 5 meter catamaran for fishing trips and sailing near shores.

I have access to wide format cnc and laser cutting so exotic hull design could be interesting and possible to explore.

In this post I would like to get some insight into optimal placement of motors. I do not have access to FSD simulation, but intuition tells me integrated motors must be more efficient at low hull speed.

The images are AI generated, so take it with a grain of salt - only for illustrating the idea of integrating the motor vs regular outboard motor attachment after the hull.

The motors are around 16cm wide and 35cm long cylinder form.
