Medical collections in WA after roughly 6 months?
I received the letter for 1,033.
For context: I get Botox injections to help with chronic migraines, and my insurance(the sh*theads) did not cover as much as they said. Things slipped, as they do, and the bill quietly finally went to collections
I received a letter back last November about the collections— I was still waiting to be approved to be on disability up until that point, so waited, and it got tossed into my mail pile.
I got a phone call (genuinely missed it) *maybe* around March-ish from them.
Obviously, I’ve waited too long to try to negotiate with the hospital or debate the collectors about the bill (I don’t even know when the exact bill was fml there’s been a lot of medical stuff going on). I know the recent law means that they won’t report it to the credit bureau, but as someone on disability, I’m not exactly in a position to pay that amount or be *sued*. I’ve seen some people say that just ignoring it worked for them, but considering the amount, that’s not nothing. I’m assuming my best course is to just try to negotiate a monthly payment right? But I’ve also read even just acknowledging them can make things worse :(
