Seeking Feedback on an Unraid Server + Linux Gaming VM Build
Hey everyone, I'm in the planning stages of a new build and would love some input from the community.
The foundation is an ASUS ProArt Creator motherboard, paired with either a Ryzen 9 9900X3D or 9950X, cooled by an Arctic 420mm AIO.
I'll be running Unraid with a dedicated Linux gaming VM, pinning six to eight cores depending on the processor model and passing through 16GB of RAM.
Storage is covered by a Samsung 990 Plus 4 terabyte NVMe, three 22 terabyte Seagate HDDs, and an additional 3 terabyte drive. I'm starting with a 1070 and plan to upgrade to a 5070 Ti down the road eventually.
I have long-term plans to upgrade the system over time, including adding more SSDs and mechanical drives, upgrading the CPU, and generally enhancing various components over the next few years.
I'm primarily focused on a stable unraid server with a smooth gaming VM, so any insights on resource management, drive configuration, or achieving the best performance for remote play on my Legion Go would be greatly appreciated.
