I usually spend my free time volunteering at local schools, nursing injured birds back to health, and rehoming unwanted cats. Apparently, my latest charity project was a 33-year-old lawyer with a serious case of "birthday panic."
We were seeing each other for a month. He talked a big game about wanting a "long-term" relationship, but his actions looked more like a short-term trial subscription. Right before his birthday dinner, he claimed he had the "worst professional day of his entire career," cancelled last minute, tried to demote our entire connection to a "texting-only" relationship, and then left my birthday text on read.
