Peds vs psych

I’m a rising M4 and have been between psych and peds basically all of medical school. But I’ve told everyone I’m applying peds since M1, if that makes any sense lol. I’m just not sure if I’ll actually love all aspects of peds. I’m pretty set on not doing fellowship, I’m old-ish and honestly just want to start attending life ASAP.I don’t know if I love interacting with parents as much as I thought I did, and I’m also not sure how much I enjoy well-child checks or newborn medicine. I definitely don’t want to do something high-acuity like hospital medicine for my entire career either. On the other hand, I really like psych for the work-life balance and honestly find it the most interesting/“fun.” Weirdly enough, my psych patients from my psych rotation are some of the ones I still remember the most, whereas I don’t remember many patients from my other rotations. So now I’m like… should I actually be paying attention to that? 😂 The problem is I haven’t done any psych Sub-Is, and my board scores are pretty low, so I’m not sure how realistic switching gears this late in the game would be. Idk, I guess I’m just wondering if anyone has any insight or has gone through something similar. Also do not want to do child psych 100% bc that has been suggested to me in the past.

Advice/Hope and anything in between

Can anyone share how their COMSAE scores correlated with their actual Level 2 score? I know everyone on here says they don’t so I’d love to hear from anyone who ended up doing significantly better on the real exam than on their COMSAEs. I could really use some hope core rn as I’m testing in a few days. My goal is to pass, and best-case scenario like a 500. Here’s where I’m at:
First COMSAE: 300s
Most recent COMSAEs: 454 → 473
TrueLearn average: 62%
WELCOMs (took all of them): 71.5%

If anyone had similar practice scores and can share how things turned out, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks

Help

So basically my shelf is the day after tomorrow and I don’t have tomorrow off. I’m on vascular surgery. At the beginning of the rotation, the preceptor mentioned that she doesn’t let people take the day before an exam off, so I’ve been considering calling out sick instead.

My mental health is honestly kind of in shambles right now. I’m extremely anxious, feeling physically unwell from the stress, and I could really use the extra time to study and decompress before the exam. At the same time, I’m worried it’ll look suspicious given what she said earlier in the rotation.

What are the pros and cons of calling out sick in this situation? Would you do it? Please let me know your thoughts.
