Within that place of comfort, I plant something else… something only exposed upon closer examination…. A challenge. A confrontation… an alternative reality of what is exhibited.

There’s a societal norm in the world of art: we are conditioned to accept nudity when the subject is female. Naked breasts, curves, skin—these pass without much comment. They’re “normal.” Expected. But show a nude male figure—specifically, a penis—and the atmosphere shifts. Stop, and listen. Viewers will exhibit discomfort, avoidance, and especially laughter to deflect the image's directness. Michelangelo’s David has been the butt of jokes for centuries—his strength as a sculpture undermined by cultural discomfort with his penis being exposed.

I call it The Power of a Penis.
