Recommendations for Cost Effective Asian Sunscreen for Body

What are everyone's reccs for cost effective Asian sunscreens for body (preferably sold on Yesstyle or Stylevana). I love my Japanese and Korean sunscreens for my face but I can't justify using them on the rest of my body. Most of the time it's just for my arms and legs while in T-shirts and shorts but occasionally the rest of my body for beach and pool days. I've resorted to wearing a Uniqlo Airism UV hoodie which is quite breathable and cool most days this summer but on the hottest days I would still prefer to just wear a T-shirt.

I've been using KUMANO COSME - Reihaku Hatomugi UV Milky Gel SPF31 PA+++ and it's decent performance and pricewise (~39g/$1USD) but it's SPF is on the lower end and it's not waterproof or water resistant as far as I can tell. It uses Uvinul A Plus and along with older filters. There is a SPF50+ version but it actually doesn't have the Uvinal A Plus or other new filters. Pumps is great for quick application before leaving the house. With the recommended amounts of around 12ml for two legs however, the 250ml bottles won't even last a month of once daily application.

I've tried American sunscreens but something about them triggers my nose a lot :'(

So far I've found the below:

  1. OMI - Verdio UV Moisture Gel Water Proof SPF50+ PA++++ - 220g - Almost twice the price (~17.8g/$1USD) but with higher SPF, Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150, and Tinosorb S and water resistance.
  2. NIVEA UV Super Water Gel SPF50 PA+++ 140g which is about 13g/$1USD also with Uvinul T 150 and Uvinul A Plus
  3. NIVEA Japan - UV Super Water Gel EX Pump Fragrance Free SPF50+ PA++++ - 270g which comes out to around 10g/$1USD is water resistant and contains Uvinul A Plus, Uvinul T 150, and Tinosorb S.

I think I might try out all three in addition to reordering the Hatomugi SPF31.

  • Typical Day
    • Reihaku Hatomugi SP31
  • High UV-index day
    • Nivea Super Water Gel
  • Sweat expected day
    • OMI Verdio
  • Beach/pool/watersport days
    • Nivea Gel EX

Honestly though if the OMI Verdio performs well there might not be any reason to use any of the NIVEA sunscreens unless the waterproofing on the Gel EX is substantially better than the Verdio.

Other mentions

  1. Derma:B - Everyday Sun Block SPF50+ PA++++ - 200ml. Bought on sale on recommendation but actually not that affordable at around 12g/$1USD. It triggered my nose a little but not as bad as the typical American sunscreen. Turns out they also only use FDA approved filters when I looked it up (I know I should've looked first).

Notes:
Won't go to in depth but the waterproof rules in Japan are not as strict as say Australia so even if it's labeled as such you probably need to apply more and reapply more often than you think.
