Pet sitting & Jury Duty?

How do you guys handle jury duty? I do drop-ins/walks only and typically have 5–8+ visits per day. I got summoned for jury duty, but I already have to postpone it because of an upcoming trip, so I’m able to reschedule it for a time when I currently have no bookings.

My concern is that I don’t want to block off an entire week and decline my regulars when I may not even end up being selected for a jury.

How do you guys handle this with bookings/scheduling?

Client asked to take a picture of ID at meet and greet.

I had a typical m&g today for a few drop ins, all was going well, she asked the typical “are you close by?” I responded with “yeah just about 10 minutes away if even that, just over here on ***** street” then almost immediately after she asked for a *picture* of my license.
I was quite caught off guard and didn’t know what to do so I let her take a pic but purposely blocked everything on the bottom after my name with my thumb (address, height, weight, etc.)

She then proceeded to look at the picture on her phone and said “oh I didn’t get your address”. At that point I said she could look at it but I don’t want a picture of it, so she looked at it and goes “oh does it say *** street? okay it does “ and all was good after.

I understand wanting to verify I am who I say on my profile, but I am still confused on why she wanted my home address. Rover already verifies sitters and runs background checks, and I know she had read my profile, met me in person, seen my reviews, and received my business card and phone number.

I’m kicking myself because I can think of so many better ways I could have handled it afterward. I could have asked what she wanted to verify, explained Rover’s verification process, or simply said, “You’re welcome to briefly look at my ID, but I don’t allow clients to photograph it or keep my home address.”

Has anyone else been asked for a photo of their ID at a meet and greet? Would this make you uncomfortable, and how would you handle it? The thing that threw me off the most was wanting my address, like this is just a few drop ins.

edit: immediately after this happened I obviously concluded w myself I will not be letting any clients take a picture of my ID, just looking for other insight.

open calendar = auto booking apparently

The response after politely declining a booking… I took care of her cats ONE TIME in DECEMBER for 3 days. 3 one hour drop ins PER DAY for her perfectly healthy, young cats. Absolutely cray cray owner, had me do anything and everything. I wrote ESSAYS in my drop ins so she knew everything was done. Very happy with my care, left me a good review (although she texted me all the things I did “wrong”. took out the trash, used too many cats bowls, god I could go ON AND ON)

I gave her my number for contact during the booking because she asked. Never said i’d take care of them again, especially after that experience.

I did not want any form on contact with her after the booking, so no I didn’t say thank you for her tip. I always say thank you to every single other client 🙃.

Get this. Her “maximum” tip is 5%. $20 on a $420 booking. Like lady… I don’t care about tips and NEVER expect one. But i’m sorry maximum tip where.
