Is there a good middle ground between AI writing and writing everything yourself?

I'm trying to find a middle ground with AI writing and haven't quite figured it out yet.

Writing everything from scratch feels more authentic, obviously, but it also takes a lot longer. Using AI for the entire thing is much faster, but the final result often doesn't feel like something I would have written.

So lately I've been thinking that maybe the better approach is to use AI for the rough draft and then use another tool to help make the wording more natural before doing my own final edit. I've been trying HumanizeAIText.io for this part, mainly because it focuses on adjusting the wording and flow without completely changing the original idea. So far, that approach feels more practical to me than constantly rewriting the whole draft myself.

The part I'm unsure about is which tools are actually useful for that.

There are tons of "AI humanizer" and rewriting tools around, but I'm skeptical of anything that just swaps words around and calls that natural writing. I don't want a thesaurus with an AI label on it.

Has anyone found a tool that genuinely improves the flow and makes an AI-assisted draft feel less generic?

I'm mainly interested in something that preserves the original idea while making the writing feel more personal and less formulaic. Recommendations from people who have actually used these tools would be really helpful.
