Indori Poha - is this a good hack?

Poha is flattened rice, easily available in Indian grocery stores. I went for ‘Thick Poha’. I just took two cups of Poha, put them on a big sieve, and ran it through water for 30-40 seconds. Added a little some left over oil from a pickle jar (the Indian kind pickle, look for it in the aisle where you find tikka masala). Then put this on a beaker of boiling water for 10 minutes. Add salt to taste, if you like. That’s it, enjoy. Anyone tried it?
