Question about Tape Removal

I’ve been enjoying my Expedition Boots for months now. Mainly use them for hiking.

I’ve ran into problems with the Russell insoles. My first pair shifted around and came undone at the stitching. I emailed customer service and they sent me a new pair which is awesome.

However, since I’m hiking on rough terrain I find that the insoles shift around regardless of the tape. The heel part will often shift forward towards the middle of the boot bunching up at the arch. So I’m thinking about just ditching them all together.

Unfortunately there’s now tape residue inside the boots. What’s a safe way to remove this? The last thing I wanna do is damage the inside of my Russell’s 🥲

It’s a small thing but it’s been frustrating. I wouldn’t recommend using them if you’re gonna be hiking a lot. If you’re using them for casual wear, I don’t see this being an issue.

TLDR

How to remove tape residue safely from leather. Specifically the inside of Russell Moccasins.
