First-time creator feeling overwhelmed. How did you learn the whole video creation process?

Hello all!

I'm a first-time video creator, and I've totally underestimated how much there is to know about making videos for YouTube and social media!

I came up with a concept, filmed some footage, and now every time I sit down to work on it, I feel overwhelmed. I don't know where to start, what the workflow should look like, or even what tasks I should be doing. I've never made a video from start to finish before, and I'm realizing I don't even know what I don't know!

Could y'all share how you learned the back-end of video creation? Things like organizing footage, storytelling, video structure, pacing, editing, marketing, and figuring out what actually works on YouTube?

I feel like even just having an overview of the entire process would be incredibly helpful. At least then I'd know what questions to ask and what to Google!

I'd love recommendations for books, videos, courses, websites, creators, or anything else that helped you learn.

Also, has anyone hired an experienced editor or creator to teach them the ropes? If so, was it worth it? How did you find them?

I'd especially love to hear from people making humorous, educational, or storytelling-based content.

Any advice, including things you wish you'd known when starting out, would be greatly appreciated!

Happy creating! 😊
