How did you find your first job?

What the title says!! Did you apply through online job search platforms? Or ask local studios? Did you know someone? Did you ask a studio that didn't have an opening but still got a job? Did you climb up from a sub to a teacher? Did you have to shadow?

I'm looking for a job in manhattan/around that nyc area (dont mind a commute at all). I wonder how major cities or downtowns in general are in terms of competitiveness?

PS. Yes, this is my second post in a row!! Super nervous about the process and would love some guidence.

What CPR & first aid certification does one need??

I'm applying to my first set of jobs to be a yoga instructor after wrapping up my yoga certification. Some roles are asking for CPR/First aid certification. There are an array online, but which ones are actually eligible for these jobs??

I ask because I saw the one from National CPR foundation which is 100% online and 15 dollars to get a certificate. I wonder if it upholds due to its lack of in-person training. I'm a student on a budget and want a budget-friendly option but also want a certificate that is valid. I definitely dont want to claim that i can help someone when I'm not a 100% well trained.

Let me know which certification you guys have!!! Thank you! this sub has been amazing as a teacher looking to enter the market

Teaching yoga as a university student (19 years old)

I just graduated high school and start university in a month. I grew up in India, where yoga was integrated into my classical dance training, and I've also been part of my school's yoga club since 6th grade. The point I'm trying to make is that I'm super thorough with the practice and I think my ability to teach and guide a class is also decent.

This summer, I decided to get certified. I took my time with the course, made detailed notes, practiced consistently, and spent two months attending classes at a local studio to observe teaching styles and class structure. I feel very confident with the terminology, sequencing, and overall content, and I think I have the ability to lead a class. (though i'm very young)

I'll be moving to a city where I imagine there are plenty of teaching opportunities. My only concern is that I'll also be a freshman adjusting to university. I don't plan to start teaching immediately, but I'm wondering: what are the chances of a studio hiring or even considering someone in my position? If I did teach part-time, is it realistic to balance classes, assignments, and teaching?

Based on my background, do you think teaching is a realistic possibility? Has anyone here taught while in college or been in a similar situation? I'm hoping to earn some extra income. My parents are paying for my student loans, but they're substantial, and I'd love to contribute even a few hundred dollars a month if possible. Is that realistic with yoga teaching? I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. I also do want to know that I truly enjoy this practice and that I will enjoy teaching it though I do think that the money would help me but that's only secondary primarily I've always done yoga because it's something I enjoy so in no way I would think it's a burden to have to go teach and I wouldn't necessarily see it as a job. Thank you!
