The building of the Memorial to the Victims of Political Repression of the Balkar People in Nalchik was opened on March 8, 2002; the author of the project is architect M. Guziev.
Architectural concept: this is a non-standard building, its design is influenced by Central Asian religious architecture (mausoleum) and incorporates traditional Balkarian architectural elements, the building contains exhibition halls, and in the basement there is a hall with 13 steps as a symbol of the 13 years of deportation (1944-1957).
