A couple of weeks ago I wrote about upgrading a kayak trolley. The plastic on plastic wheels (no bearings) didn't inspire much confidence and they were showing a lot of wear after just 4 trips.
Anyway.
I have to pull my kayak by hand well over 2500 yards each way.
I didn't have much confidence in the original wheels that would get hot and it would get harder to move the kayak as they over heated.
I simply bought some cheap 10 inch pneumatic wheels with a 25mm (0.984 inch) inner bearing and they simply slipped onto the axel. The old wheel caps also fit perfectly into the wheel. The bearing turns and the axel doesn't.
I put in a couple of R clips/cotter pins.
It's much easier to pull my kayak and I'm far less tired by the time I get to the water and come back.
NOTE: This is only OK if you don't put the kayak trolley into the water. I lower it in from a low sea wall and the trolley stays completely dry.
