Post CA - MBA / CFA?
Hi everyone,
This is going to be a long post, but please help me figure this out.
I recently cleared my CA exams, but I hated most of the subjects in the curriculum, though I hated AFM a little less. I'm considering an MBA to move beyond my current work in accounts and tax, but the 1-year prep time and 2-year college time aren't viable right now, especially given my age and responsibilities. However, I know very well that consultancy is the one thing I will enjoy the most and won't regret. The second option is to enter the core finance domain — IB, PE, Wealth Management, etc. — via the CFA route.
I want help in deciding whether I can get into consulting via the CA route, or whether I should start CFA as a way out and forget about an MBA for now. The reason I'm unsure about CFA is that, although it feels like a natural next step, I am not sure if I will enjoy it — I don't want to be stuck for the next 2–3 years with another course that I stop enjoying midway.
If I have made anything unclear above, please ask me to clarify. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks.
