Hi everyone, I’m currently job hunting in Japan on a job‑hunting visa. I have a master’s degree in data analytics and basic Japanese ability, but I haven’t had much luck in my job search so far. I understand that with limited Japanese, the realistic paths tend to be English teaching or certain IT roles. I’m not interested in teaching, so I’m planning to pivot into IT — specifically data center technician (DCT) roles or cloud engineering. I have some basic networking knowledge, and I’m willing to spend the next few months studying and building skills. Before I commit, I’d really appreciate some brutally honest opinions from people familiar with the Japanese job market:

  • Between data center and cloud engineering, which one gives someone like me (entry‑level, limited Japanese) a realistic chance of getting hired in Japan?
  • Is one path more foreigner‑friendly than the other?

I’m trying to focus my time where I actually have a chance, so any honest guidance would mean a lot. Thanks in advance.

Hi everyone, I’m an aspiring financial analyst and I just finished my first full 3‑statement financial model (with scenario analysis) based on a private company’s publicly available filings. My plan was to upload the project to GitHub and make a short post about it on LinkedIn to showcase my skills to hiring managers and recruiters. But before doing that, I realized I haven’t really seen many people publicly posting financial modeling projects on either platform. It made me wonder whether it’s actually appropriate or if there are industry norms I should be aware of.

So I wanted to ask the community:

  • Is it okay to publicly share a financial modeling project like this?
  • Are there any privacy, professionalism, or industry‑specific concerns I should keep in mind?
  • If posting the full model isn’t recommended, what’s the best way to showcase finance projects to employers?
  • Would a summary, screenshots, or a write‑up be better than sharing the full Excel file?

I’m trying to build a strong portfolio to help me land my first role, so any advice from people already in FP&A, corporate finance, or investment roles would be really appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
