RG Nano Power/Utility Button Not Working

Picked my RG Nano up January of last year, and it's gotten some light use for most of that time, but I started using it heavily to play RPGs maybe a couple months ago or so. For the past couple weeks, I've noticed the power button has gotten more temperamental, needing to be pushed at an angle (one that seems to vary by the day) to register. Last night, I couldn't get it to register at all.

I have no real experience dealing with electronics—the most complicated thing I've done is replace my original model 3DS's shoulder button a couple of times—but I sort of figure the issue might be dust or lint or oil or something getting between the external button and the interior actuator... or whatever the real names are for the things I'm talking about, so I thought I'd try taking the shell apart (pretty sure I have the right screwdriver head in my little screwdriver kit) and using rubbing alcohol on things in that general area at random. I thought I'd see if anyone in this community had an opinion on the matter before I did, though, in case anybody has experience with this sort of thing and I'm making a horrible mistake.
