Just picked up a brand new Ultra Bee Black Edition L1E 72v 55ah (45kmh limited controller) and I’m planning to fully build it.
Budget is €10k+ and I want to turn it into a proper beast.
I’ve got 3 different dealers here that can do all 3 options: VTB, EBMX and Torp, so I’m trying to decide which one to go with.
EBMX build would be:
X9000 V3 controller – XUB-80 motor – EWATT 80.3V 76Ah battery (will do 52kw dealer says)
I already got a clear quote for €7.5k. Dealer is an official partner so warranty and support should be very good. But honestly I find it expensive compared to the other builds that give more power for less money. BUT, ebmx seems to be the most reliable and stable one. And the ewatt battery is the best out there, i heard?
VTB build would be:
VTB V9600 AETOS Gen.2 controller – Ventus Ryuga 81kW motor – Ventus 96V 56Ah battery/not really sure what battery they have to offer yet. (≈74.8kw+)
This is actually what I really want and motivated me to buy the ultra to build it. Dealer is motivated and his partner shop already did a build like this. I expect it to be about 1–2k cheaper than the EBMX build. Only thing holding me back is that I heard from someone with a full VTB build that EBMX is way higher quality and that his friend with a VTB build had issues, but it was a vague story. And that if he had the money, he would go with a EBMX powertrain because he doesn't need more than 40kw. But he also said he done 155kmh on gps with only stock battery but vtb motor and controller.......but alright..
-I don’t mind if it’s slightly lower quality than EBMX, as long as it’s reliable enough to ride without worrying about things breaking or anything.
Torp build would be:
TC1000 controller – TM50 speed motor – battery not decided yet (≈55kw)
Dealer is also an official partner so warranty and experience should be good. Seems like a solid option overall. I was interested in torp first before i saw the VTB. Since it looks nice and 55kw with the torp was the highest i tought was possible.
All 3 give 2 years warranty, but EBMX and Torp feel a bit more “safe” because the dealers are direct partners. With VTB I just don’t have as much info yet. and ebmx dealer say they are less clear and a new brand and stuff.
Needs;
I mainly ride on the street. I still want to be able to ride to other cities, so range matters. When I ride there I go pretty chill and stable, not high speed. When I get there I want full performance and then ride back with stable medium speed because i watch out for the battery to not die ofcourse./// I have a eride pro SR and went to a city with that but i couldnt blast power when i was there because it would die on the road back. (eride pro sr has 25kw, 72V 50Ah) But most of times i ride fast and aggresively in my town. But i'm looking forward to drive more to the city after i just done that with the eride pro sr and found it nice.
I really want a 70kw+ build, so VTB is very tempting, but I don’t want to regret it if reliability is too much worse.
I also really like the stock Ultra Bee cockpit and buttons. I know Torp can keep them, not sure about EBMX or VTB. Not a dealbreaker at all but would be very nice to get to know more about this.
For the VTB build they’ll probably use a Ventus 96V 56Ah battery (or another Ventus one, not fully sure yet). Since it’s higher voltage I’m thinking it might be more efficient than the stock battery and maybe still give good range, even though it’s lower Ah than what I have now?? But not sure at all. I don't even know how good the range on the stock Ub is (72v 55ah) compared to my eride pro SR as i havent ridden it more than 20minutes.(waiting for my plate)
So I’m basically trying to figure out:
Is EBMX actually worth the extra money even with less power?
Is VTB really less reliable or just rumors? <<<< i dont care if it's lower quality. it just needs to not be absolute trash quality that i have to look after every month)
Is Torp a better option than ebmx if vtb is a no?
Would really appreciate real experiences or anyone with usable information!!
Btw dont worry i'll upgrade everything else too-sirris suspension, different wheels etc etc
