Days off during probation period? [CAN-ON]

Hello.

I recently did an interview for a part time (hoping to do 2 shifts biweekly for now) nursing position in Canada. I also recently learned that a family member is very sick and might not have a lot of time left (still unsure).
If they offer me the job, would it be ok to tell the manager what’s going on and that before I accept the job, let her know I might possibly need days off during my probation period? (Which I think is 6 months). Basically, would it be better to brief them on the situation now if they offer the job to me?

Casual vs part time new grad

Hi everyone new grad here, I recently applied to two openings on the same floor. One was casual one was part time. I got an interview for the casual position but then she noted that I applied to part time. She asked which one did I want and I said part time preferred. The interview was a week ago and I haven’t heard back. I am going to send a follow up email soon.

However, I just got news that a family member who I live with is going to be very sick. Now I’m thinking casual would suit me better because of this. I’m just scared that if something happens to my family member soon and I’m a new hire working part time and won’t be allowed time off? Would it make sense to email and say I now prefer the casual opening? It’s been exactly one week and one day tomorrow since interview. Thank you
