Invitation to Participate in a Doctoral Study on First-Year Student Experiences
My name is John Hall, and I am a doctoral candidate at Trident University International. I am conducting a qualitative research study titled
“Developing Student Self-Efficacy in First-Year Non-Traditional Online Student Programs: A Qualitative Phenomenological Case Study”
The purpose of this study is to better understand how first-year students perceive their participation in First-Year Experience (FYE) or transition programs, and how these experiences influence their confidence, engagement, and persistence in college.
I am seeking volunteers 18+ years of age who:
• Are first-year students (or have completed their first year)
• Have participated in an FYE, orientation, or transition program
• Are enrolled in an online or hybrid degree program
Participation involves a 30–45-minute virtual interview (via Zoom or similar platform) or short written survey. All responses will be confidential, and no identifying information will be included in reports. Participation is voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time without penalty.
