Has anyone else noticed Instagram engag͏ement feeling way more unpredictable lately?

I run a small creator/business page and the weird part is, I’m still posting consistently, but some posts just disappear after the first few hours. Reels that used to get decent re͏ach are now slowing down fast, and even my carousel posts are hit or miss. It feels like likes matter less now, and IG is pushing more based on watch time, shares, saves, and whether people actually interact beyond just scrolling past.

I’ve also been seeing a lot more talk about Instagram favoring original content and being stricter with reposted or low-effort formats, which makes sense, but it also makes it harder to know what actually works anymore.

For anyone growing an account right now, what trends are helping you get real engagement again?

Are you focusing more on:

Shorter Reels with stronger hooks

Carousel posts with tips/storytelling

More personal behind-the-scenes content

DM-focused CTAs

Posting less but making better content

Using trending audio, or avoiding it

More niche-specific hashtags

Collaborations with similar accounts

I’ve been testing a few things and also looked into tool͏s like Path S͏ocial just to get a better idea of audience targeting and gro͏wth direction, but I don’t want to rely only on a tool if the content strategy itself needs fixing.

Curious what’s actually working for people right now. Is Instagram just in a weird phase, or have you found a format that’s bringing engagement back?
