Starting Medications
I’m 45 years old and have been dealing with hair loss since my early 30s. I’ve been so resistant because I hate taking meds but I’ve come to the realization that it’s now or never with my hair. I have Hashimoto’s, AGA, and possible PCOS.
I went to the dermatologist today and she prescribed oral minoxidil and finasteride. She’s also ordering labs but recommended I start the meds immediately. I’m terrified of the dread shed and the side effects of fin (reduced libido and depression). Has anyone had success with starting at the lowest doses? Should I start minox first then add fin after I see how that feels for me?
Thankfully I’ve had success covering my loss with hair powder and I’m really hoping that will help me get through the dread shed, although im really nervous not even the powder can cover it then.
