We know that most of the cabinet members tried to nudge Trump out of the Iran attack, we also know (though unconfirmed) that Trump has connections with the KGB/FSB (agent Krasnov etc.). Obviously the Israelis also have something on him due to the major butt licking.

The closure of the strait of Hormuz has halted the flow of oil products from the Gulf states, leading to a sharp rise in prices and to the need to purchase Russian oil products.

The Russian economy was severly hit by Ukraine's attacks on Russian oil infrastructure, sanctions, and overall costs of waging an offensive war.

After the rise of the oil prices, Trump has levied some Russian sanctions, pushing consumers towards Russian products. This will most likely lead to an unprecedented growth in Russian oil revenue, which will keep the Russian economy from collapsing (this was predicted by almost everyone before the Iran conflict, as Russia had major budget deficits and interest rates up to 25%).

Starting a new war out of nothing in a far away place is political suicide for Trump, a man whose whole political campaign focused on ending wars and dealing with domestic matters first. MAGA supporters everywhere have taken note and even opinion leaders, such as Tucker Carlson etc, have started to distance themselves from the Trump-cult. Even someone as dense as Trump could have seen this coming from a mile away. What is the profit in this?
