Feeling defeated

Hey everyone

I am a 23 yr old female, I had a compound femur fracture at the age of 18 due to a car accident. Due to this fracture I had to get a skin flap over my thigh due to infection. At that time I thought the skin flap was going to be my biggest obstacle, I was so wrong. I was told throughout physical therapy and my first year of recovery that I would fully recover bc of my age and having my surgery done by a very exceptional orthopedist. Well, 5 years have passed and I have very limited range of motion and flexibility. I am constantly in pain, my knee is super stiff, I have really bad osteoarthritis, very noticeable limp, can’t run, ETC. I have seen more than a handful of specialist. They all come back to me and say that I will need a full knee replacement at 30 or maybe earlier but that my knee is so far gone that they can’t do anything until then. Well, I recently found a new orthopedist, he did my hardware removal so that way it would help with the pain and be able to get a MRI since prior to that, I wasn’t able to get one. I saw him yesterday after he got my MRI results and guess what, he referred me to another specialist :( I just feel like I won’t be able to find someone who can help me and that I will have to live with this horrible pain my whole life. He stated that my ACL, meniscus, fibula, tendons and ligaments would have to be reconstructed. He also mentioned that my patella is rotated and not aligned like a normal knee cap is. I didn’t ask much questions after he said all that because I’ve just gotten used to the disappointment, so in my mind there isn’t a reason for me to even ask.

Have any of you gone through this? I am feeling so hopeless.
