Hi everyone,

I’m planning to start my BSc Informatik at RWTH Aachen this upcoming winter semester, and I’ll most likely move to Aachen around July. I wanted to get some advice from students who are already living and studying there.

  1. Housing (WG / Wohnung): I’m actively searching on WG-Gesucht, since my waitlist position at Studentenwerk is around 200–400, so I don’t think I can rely on that. Do you have any tips on how to realistically secure a room by July? Anything that worked for you (messages, timing, other platforms, etc.)?

  2. Part-time jobs: How hard is it to get a student job in Aachen? I lived in Paderborn for a year during my Studienkolleg, and finding a job there was honestly quite difficult. I speak decent German, so I’m hoping that helps.

  3. Difficulty at RWTH: I know this is subjective, but how manageable is studying at RWTH while doing a part-time job? What has your experience been like in terms of workload, stress, and balancing everything?

Any insights or personal experiences would really help a lot. Thanks in advance! 🙌
