SSL2+ input signal extremely low ONLY in Ableton Live 11 (Pro Tools works fine)
Hey everyone,
I’m losing my mind with this issue and I can’t figure out what’s going on.
Setup:
- SSL2+
- Ableton Live 11 Suite
- macOS 15.4.1
I’m connecting a synth directly into the SSL2+ and the interface itself receives signal perfectly fine. The SSL input meters look healthy and if I use the Monitor Mix knob towards “Input”, I can hear the synth loud and clear with no issues.
The problem starts inside Ableton.
Ableton DOES receive signal, but it’s EXTREMELY low. Like almost unusable low. If I crank everything insanely hard I can barely hear it, so the signal is technically there, just massively attenuated for some reason.
Important part:
- Same synth
- Same cable
- Same SSL2+
- Same macOS
- The same exact setup in Pro Tools works perfectly normally.
So this is definitely an Ableton-specific issue.
Things I already checked/tried:
- Correct inputs/outputs configured
- Mono inputs vs stereo inputs
- Different tracks/projects
- Monitor set to IN
- Input config reset
- New empty project
- No plugins
- Master at unity
- Different sample rates
- SSL selected correctly as audio device
- Buffer size changes
- Audio MIDI Setup checked
- Line mode correctly selected on SSL
- Rebooted everything
What’s weird is that I’ve had this exact same setup for around a year and it always worked perfectly. This issue just appeared randomly.
Has anyone experienced something similar with:
- Ableton Live 11
- SSL2+
- macOS Sonoma/Sequoia
Could this be some kind of CoreAudio/input gain scaling bug or corrupted audio engine state in Live?
Any help would be massively appreciated.
