The weirdest thing just happened

So, I had a trial just now, and I do what I always do especially for trials: check that everything is working beforehand, test the audio on Preply and all of that. My student comes in 2min late, which is fine, but then she cannot hear me. I can hear her just fine. The preply system says my mic is fine, and when I recorded the audio on the test everything was ok. So I write on the chat that we should try to leave and come back, and we both leave and come back, still she cannot hear me. I try umplugging my earphones, and she does the same, still nothing. We switch to google meets, still she cannot hear me. I reescheduled for tomorrow, because at this point we are like 15min in the class, and I have another right after. Now I am like testing my audio in another call on meets and I can hear just fine what I am saying in my computer from my phone.

So I am wondering if anyone here has ever had something like thing happening, and what should I tell her to do?

Update: She did have an issue with her browser, she told me her husband helped her to look at it after. Today we did the class, she loved it, immediately subscribed 2x a week 😄

I applied for the corporate program but never got anyone

Soooo... I applied to teach the corporate program a few months ago, but till now I haven't had a single corporate student. I have a bunch of students, but all are non-corporate. Is this also happening with other tutors who applied?

Person booking a bunch of trial lessons

I just had a trial with an amazing student. The trial was perfect. We talked a lot about her expectations, and then I gave her an audio exercise to test her level. But at the end she tells me: I really liked it, however, I have 2 more lessons to test today, and then afterwards I will let you know. Does it also bother you that Preply allows them to just book multiple trials even if they liked their first booking? As much as I understand why they advertise that you can try with different teachers (as I understand not every teacher is good), it bothers me that they don't have a simple filter, such as: if you give a 5/5 in your first trial, you should sign up for that one, and then let's say 2 weeks later you notice you are actually not a match, then you should be able to change (I say 2 weeks because I understand that some teachers are also a bit irresponsible when it comes to students, I gather that from comments here from some students having teachers changing their price after 2 lessons, or things like that) instead of just being able to book 3 before even trying a single one of them..... technically doesn't that go against what they advertize itself? Which is: If you don't like your teacher, you can try again???!!

Just another day being annoyed by Preply

Soooo. I have a genuine question: Does Preply explain how subscriptions work before students take the trial lesson? I had a student yesterday who was so confused because she thought she could just pay per lesson. So I explained to her, and then she told me she had also contacted another teacher to have a trial, and this teacher, simply out of nowhere, told her: Sorry, I cannot help you, and blocked her (no reason whatsoever!! And believe me, I know there are lots of reasons to block people, but not this time, she literally was just booking a trial and just had her info filled on the student needs, and the only message she sent was like: Hello looking foawrd to our class... (she did show me this)), and she was like: I paid for a lesson with her also and now I want to transfer the credits to you. Which got me so confused, because in my understanding, they get 3 trials for 1 payment (are they actually charging per trial now? If so, I am even more pissed that they are not paying us!!!), but it is simply impossible to book 2 trials with the same teacher. Either way, I told her to contact support to get more information on that because I was just a bit shocked that:

  1. She had no idea she had to pay monthly
  2. She asked what my price was?? I mean, she should know??
  3. She told me she wanted to transfer credits to me, but she was just taking trials???

So my question is, do they really not explain this properly to students?

I am completely fine about not changing my price for current students. I just keep raising my current prices to make up for the losses, but if a student cancels and then resubscribes, I kinda think I should tell them that I will have to raise their prices to the current fees. I hate that Preply keeps our prices for life. I think it is fairer that, in case the student cancels and then resubscribes, they pay the current fee (after all, they do have the option of pausing). Idk, what's your take on that?
