Everyone calls Florence Welch a witch. She’s not. She’s a sorceress.
The difference matters. A witch relies on tools, external forces, something borrowed from the world around her. A sorceress is born with power that is entirely her own — colossal and innate. She spends her whole life barely containing it.
Florence doesn’t borrow anything. She opens her mouth and creates massive, ritualistic soundscapes that alter the emotional gravity of a room. That’s not craft. That’s not learned. That’s mythological presence, and you either have it or you don’t. I’ve seen her three times. SF this past week was the third. That’s when it became very clear what I was experiencing.
