Please help me - garbage disposal
Alright, I’m going to preface I am renting this home and I love my landlord. I moved into this really big ranch in December in Nashville (if that matters) and there’s a few things I just am not sure how to fix. My bestfriend and her husband lived actually in this house before me for a few years then no one lived here for a year, now me. That was probably irrelevant- but not really.
Moreover, the garbage disposal is actually terrifying. I also have a real bad ocd issue with germs and bacteria so it’s probably not terrifying, but I’m repulsed.
Every time I do the dishes on the left side of the sink, obviously some water goes into the right I always cleaned it, etc. Then one day I was like let me just turn this on put some dawn so it’s clean even if I don’t use it.
Then, nothing drained and a bunch of food and white like almost like picture milk, if you had a gooey coating of milk it just (I’m gonna die explaining this rn) just came into the sink and all this red stuff. Then I had a little draino, and I only poured a little and do much shit came up I wanted to cry. I didn’t pour much, at all. Then I researched, you def don’t do that so that was the end of that.
Regardless, I haven’t touched it since and I have been so busy I haven’t gotten it fixed and I’m so nervous about what is inside it. That like white latex film was so disgusting and the red stuff I just idk what to do. I’ll do anything to make sure there’s nothing clogged and it’s not just dirty. I probably will never use it as I live here, but I know there’s something that is causing something gross in there and it’s really freaking me out. To a point I can’t enjoy cooking anymore.
I’m embarrassed about this. Side note, I mentioned my bestfriend living here for years and then no one for a year until me makes me so disgusted whatever is in that disposal has been there since forever now. When I turn on the disposal is doesn’t really do anything I just seriously need help, in the most clean way possible because I have a serious issues with bacteria and idk what to do.
I put a bowl over it, a few months ago. I never do anything with that side of the sink. The white film is like latex it’s just disgusting. I know it can be fixed I just need help.
