Lease Buyout

‘24 Silverado EV 3WT lessee here. My lease is up in April and I like my truck so much that I’m considering buying it out at the end of the lease. Even though the buyout is a little more than I’d like, it will only have 14k miles on it by April and I’ve taken good care of it. Certainly couldn’t get a new truck with the same capabilities for the same amount, and I don’t want to do another lease.

Has anyone gone through the buyout process on their lease? How did it go? Did you go through GMF or your dealer? If you financed, did GMF offer any sort of special rates for going through them?

Lease Purchase

Has anyone had any luck negotiating a lease purchase directly with GM Financial? I have a 2024 Silverado EV 3WT that’s in the final months of its lease. I would like to keep it, but the purchase price is around $55k, which is way higher than the market value right now. Granted, I benefited greatly from the residual value adjustment from the tax credit during the lease.

Alternatively, the dealer suggested they could just purchase it back at auction for me, but that seems like a pain and then I’m inevitably going to end up paying the dealer a markup.

If I can’t buy it at a decent price, I will probably end up going back to leasing ICE, which is something I hate to do but the monthly payment is important.

Any advice appreciated. Thank you!
