Opinions on group tutoring (not necessarily vs 1:1 just in general)?

So traditionally I haven’t offered group tutoring sessions for a myriad of reasons- however between seeing all the study groups on here as well as people I’ve had ask me for it, I was wondering what we all thought here.

I usually feel like 1:1 is more optimal, however I’ve been hearing recently individuals speak to lower costs making it more accessible, as well as a more comfortable Socratic seminar like feel vs 1:1 which some find a bit awkward. The ability to work w peers as well as a tutor seems really attractive to a lot of individuals who I’ve spoken with about this too

That being said I want to open my mind…so where better to do so than Reddit lol

I’m not necessarily committing to offering this in the future (unless there’s like resounding requests from this post), but I’d love to get some crowd sourced thoughts here!

Why you shouldn’t be stressed about June (my opinion, before anyone crucifies me)

I want to start w the caveat that if this is your final attempt and for whatever reason June is necessary then this does not apply to you- but for the rust of those who are not on their last attempt and forced to do June or not attend law school, here are some thoughts:

THERE IS NO TROPHY FOR FINISHING EARLY! A 176 from November beats out a 170 from June 99 percent of the time (all things equal). With that, there is no real reason to submit in June as you can take August and still apply as apps open, and worst case take sept and still only be a few weeks after apps open (which isn’t going to make or break most ppls apps). Technically as long as you take November or earlier you are likely fine (though yes a 170 in August is better than a 170 in November).

This is a long way of saying, in my opinion, June is a really expensive pt and nothing more. I have roughly a dozen people I’m working with who scored within the 90th percentile in April that are taking it again in either June or August because why stop at a 168-171 when w a few extra months you can get 4 points higher (example not promise lol)

Overall this specific exam should be low stress, don’t make it anything it’s not, and breatheeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. There’s like two weeks or so left which means there is actually time to still learn and improve some stuff before you gotta take it- so make the most out of it. Don’t let perfection be the enemy of progress!!!

Good luck to everyone and feel free to either comment or shoot me a message if u have questions on anything from actual lsat questions to just anxiety tips for how to manage that! Hope to help at least some of yall sleep a bit better next few weeks nights

Hi All!

Last one of these did super well, and with the influx of people reaching out after April results came in I thought id open up another AMA to hopefully help answer more questions for more people!

Little bit about me: I started off at 144 quit for a month or so got a 149, then started my climb to 176. It took me 11 months from start to finish (however it doesn’t take that long imo). I got to about 161 to where I was at the worst plateau of my life- I did four sessions of tutoring which got me to 16high and then I used those resources to self study the rest of the way to 176!

I want to also mention how proud I am of everyone- I absolutely love to see the community supporting each other. From my students to new people I see here daily you all are doing so so so well and taking huge and hard steps to change the trajectory of your lives!

Due to the volume of requests I’ll also be opening up space this coming week for free consult calls.

**not at all a tutoring ad**
**literally just trying to answer questions to help others, not promote anything**

With April scores coming out, it’s a hectic time especially given why ppl usually take this exam (waitlist—>A attempt, extra scholarship, for next fall, etc.)

That being said regardless of the number it’s important to have a plan! If all goes good, amazing! If not- what are we gonna do? Does this entail applying next cycle, do we now register for August or sept, do we augment our approach…

As long as we have a plan then the number means nothing more than an instrumental step in your process/journey. If we don’t have a plan however that’s when we start to get into undesirable situations that make this process harder than it has to be.

To that end my biggest piece of advice not tutor to test takers, but plain ass human to human- don’t let this number affect us anymore than is absolutely necessary, develop and implement your plan, and if you don’t get a result you like, mix it up and change what your doing (not all of it obviously but maybe look into diff ways to supplement your current plan)

If anyone has any questions on how to make a plan, how to change diff study factors, or just wants general advice comment below or shoot me a message and I’d love to help.

For context I say all this as someone who took the worlds most arduous journey from 144–>176 lol
