I am planning my wife and I's honeymoon to Roatan. We are not resorty people and I found a lovely little more off-grid spot that appears to be just what we would love. My only concern is that this is very much a mom and pop shop, they don't have a formal booking service and 50% payment is required 3 months in advance. Traveling from Canada, my payment options are Western union or bank transfer. I believe it is a very legitimate operation, but I still want to be careful. Is there any way to protect myself from a potential scam if it turns out to not be legit? Thank you!
