Begaar still exists in Kashmir. Earlier, it was the Dogras who forced Kashmiris into it. But today, Indian forces force Kashmiris to perform menial labour for them.

I was just roaming around the market with my friends when I saw Indian soldiers forcing Kashmiris, including an elderly Kashmiri man, build a roadside checkpost for them using sandbags. They're building these along KP Road because of the Yatra. Fine. But why force Kashmiris, especially elderly men, to carry those heavy sandbags? It's your job. Do it yourself.

But I guess they know they enjoy total impunity here. The Indian State has given them a free hand to oppress Kashmiris as they please.

The photos aren't very clear because the forces were all around, and I couldn't risk taking a clear shot. Somehow, I managed to capture these two without being noticed.

I was going through the CIA's classified documents on DW. I searched for Kashmir and found something that really shocked me. It were the detainee records of hundreds of foreign fighters from Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Africa, and many other places who had come to fight jihad in Kashmir during the 90s.

It's interesting that the list includes an Australian convert, David M. Hicks, who had recently converted to Islam.

What made me sad was the fact that, upon interrogation while in U.S. custody at Guantanamo Prison, all of them stated that they had come to fight jihad in Kashmir for the sake of Kashmiri Muslims and in solidarity with them.

However, all of them were handed over to the U.S. forces by the Pakistani Army.

Now, I don't have anything against Pakistan. I love the people of Pakistan because I know they love me. But seriously, this left me shell-shocked. I used to think that Pakistan was a core supporter of our cause, and I still do. They have done their part. But incidents like this make me feel that, at the end of the day, we are on our own.

Today, I saw a lot of posts about a Kashmiri Pandit woman named Sarla Bhat. I wanted to ask the people knowledgeable about this matter for clarification regarding the incidents surrounding her.

All the posts mentioned that she was raped and killed by JKLF, and some even included the name Yasin Malik. Is all of this true?

I've interacted with Kashmiris who are staunchly committed to the cause and would even channel it into action if given the chance. But all of them are pro-humanity first. They condemn every act of oppression against innocents. Yet they are against the Indian forces and the Indian State.

So what I don't understand is: what was the reason behind JKLF committing this horrible act? What did they think this would accomplish? Isn't it an axe to their own feet? Why would they, in their right mind, do something so horrific?

The Indian Army has committed rapes and atrocities against Kashmiris. But for them, it has been about using rape as a political tool to suppress resistance in Kashmir. And the Indian State has given them a free hand to do whatever they want. They aren't answerable to anyone. So committing such horrible crimes doesn't affect them in the same way.

But for a resistance organisation like JKLF, wouldn't such incidents make people develop ill feelings towards the organisation and cause it to lose popular support?

So, is this incident actually true?

I don't trust the Indian State. It has a history of lying, carrying out false-flag operations, and committing atrocities. The last time I was driving from Srinagar to Anantnag, a Kashmiri Sikh signalled for a ride, and I picked him up. He told me he was from Chattisinghpora. As our conversation continued, I asked him about the killing of the Sikhs there. He said it was the Indian Army that carried out the killings, gave me reasons for why they believed that, and said that the locals there know the truth. So I don't trust the Indian State.

That's why I'm asking: is this incident actually true?

Will it really be bad for Ahmadis in an independent Kashmir? As far as I know, there's a small Ahmadi community in Kulgam, and they've never faced any communal violence or even threats from Kashmiri Muslims. So I don't know what this guy is talking about or where he's coming from.

If there are any Kashmiri Ahmadi here, can you shed some light on this?

Best nursing colleges in J&K, preferably in Kashmir?

Since the JKBOPEE counselling for B.Sc. Nursing is about to begin, I wanted some information regarding it. I am absolutely clueless about anything related to this, so I thought I'd ask.

Could you provide a preference list, preferably focusing on colleges in Kashmir, ranking the best nursing colleges in the state from top to bottom?

Thank you.

Do Kashmiris hate their language?

My friend Abraz created this video a while ago, and it even received some engagement on YouTube. However, for some reason, he has stopped making videos now.

What do you think about this video and the message he is trying to convey? Also, do you think he should continue making videos like these?
