New M5 Pro - battery life far shorter than expected
I just upgraded my late 2019 16 inch macbook pro. That machine was spec'd pretty well at the time and when i got it I was super impressed, the battery went forever and it ran cool all the time. Over time that changed. I finally was ready for an upgrade.
I found an open box M5 Pro Macbook Pro for a great price - I checked it out and it was in new condition, no cosmetic issues, within 60 days of original purchase, less than 5 charging cycles and battery health at 100%. I bought it.
I migrated everything except apps from my old macbook, so I could ensure everything was designed for apple silicon. I'm shocked at two things: this thing gets pretty warm from just regular use (like browsing) and the battery doesn't last long at all. As i write this I have chrome open (granted I have three windows and a bunch of tabs), vs code (no processes running), mail and messages. I'm at 55% battery with 3:35 remaining time after I switched to low power mode. Before that it was 2:20.
4 hours total battery life for a brand new machine that I'm just browsing on is crazy. Is this normal?
