Dad wants to quit after one round of Folforinox.

My 73 year old dad was diagnosed in Feb 2026 with mets to the liver. He did gem/abrax until a couple weeks, but his bile duct got blocked and had a stent put in.

They switched him to 75% folforinox last Tuesday. The actual infusion went great with no immediate side effects. He left beaming with hope! However, the days since (5 days) have been bad, and he told me and my mom he’s not sure if he can keep doing this.

At the same time, he has already gotten the paperwork submitted for the Daraxonrasib and we are waiting. Not sure how long it will take.

My question to you all is, how does someone get through emotionally and physically the side effects of folforinox? I want to respect his feelings, but I also am praying he chooses not to give up just yet.

For those who had loved ones treated at MD Anderson in Houston…

How was the level of care? My dad has stage IV and does not go through MD Anderson yet I wonder if we should. I really want that for my dad. Yesterday he was sent by his local oncologist to st Luke’s/baylor for a bile duct stent and we are in the most awful situation. Nurses nowhere to be found, they have no clue what’s going on and frankly DNGAF. He’s suffering and I feel like they are just letting it happen.

Would MD Anderson have treated him this way? Would Gastro doctors be familiar with the fact that he has pancreatic cancer and treat him whole body and with more care?

First scan after chemo

My Dad (72) was diagnosed with Mets to the liver (3 small tumors) in February. He did one round (2 months) of gemzar/abraxane, and they did his first scan to track treatment today. The findings were that the pancreatic tumor is about the same size but has less metabolic activity. However, there is one new liver lesion (.7 cm). No other spread in his body.

Can someone tell me if this is considered a positive treatment result? Is it common for the chemo to work on one tumor but still increase in another area? Also, has anyone who had this chemo combination seen better results down the road than after the first round?
