Americans, have you ever stolen corn from a field? And is it actually illegal?

I'm genuinely curious about this. Where I'm from, if you live near a cornfield, grabbing a few ears just to boil for dinner is pretty normal. Farmers don't really care as long as it's a small amount for personal use.

Why is TomTom Home so painfully difficult to use in 2026? (Renault Scénic 3, old maps)

My father just bought a used Renault Scénic 3. It came with an old TomTom navigation system (TomTom Home). The previous owner had only installed maps of France — nothing else.

I've been trying for three days to update the maps and add the ones for our country. And honestly… I'm losing my mind.

The system feels clunky, unintuitive, and nothing like modern navigation apps (Google Maps, Waze, etc.). I've watched tutorials, read forums, but still struggling.

So my question for Europeans who have dealt with TomTom Home (especially in older Renault cars):

  1. Is it really this hard, or am I missing something obvious?

  2. How did you manage to update / replace maps on this system?

  3. Is there a trick to it, or should I just give up and use my phone?

What part of American history do you actually like thinking about?

Not what you’re supposed to be proud of. Not what they force-feed you in school.

What’s one moment you personally find cool, strange, moving, or just weirdly fascinating?

How often do Germans actually say "nä"?

I've been learning German and just discovered the word "nä" — like "right?" or "isn't it?"

How common is it in daily speech? Is it regional? Would I sound weird if I used it as a foreigner?Do you use it as a filler word at the end of questions — like a verbal habit you don't even notice?

Danke.
