Pedestrian at roundabouts

Pedestrian at roundabouts

As a pedestrian navigating roundabouts, I have been honked at twice recently in the same scenario. I would like to know if I am doing something wrong so that I can cross safely without endangering myself or drivers.

The image shows me (the pedestrian in red), the first car in the first lane (in yellow), and the second car in the second lane (in blue).

Everything happens on a four-lane roundabout, specifically at the first two lanes I must cross.

Before crossing, I wait for the car in the first lane to stop if there is traffic. Once the yellow car stops, I begin to cross while keeping my eyes on the incoming traffic in the second lane. Sometimes, cars in the second lane zoom past me, but most of the time, they slow down to let me cross.

Here is the part that confuses me: recently, two different drivers in the second lane honked at me as they slowed down. This makes me wonder if I am doing something wrong. Please educate me if that is the case.

Thanks in advance.
