PTI Slab on ground - US Engineers, please help?
Hi Structural Engineers of the USA, or Texas more specifically... I am a Structural Engineer from South Africa and I need to design a waffle slab for a site near Dripping Springs, Texas. We got the geotechnical report for the site and it's heavy expansive clays. The geotechnical engineer did recommend a reconditioning method to limit differential settlement, but I still want to calculate the slab and beam sizing, rebar and settlement in a way that would be recognised by the council. I found the PTI or WRI methods online, but not much about it. Must I use these methods or can I use FE modelling with a bearing capacity to calculate the sizing and reinforcement? Is there a specific way of calculating settlement in the US?
If I need to use PTI or WRI, does someone have a spreadsheet that you would be so kind as to share?
