Do prebiotic drinks actually help digestion and gut health?

I understand probiotics well enough, they add beneficial bacteria, but prebiotics still confuse me a little. From what i’ve read, they’re supposed to feed the good bacteria already living in the gut, but I can’t tell whether adding them to a morning drink actually makes a noticeable difference or if it’s mostly another wellness trend.

For anyone who uses a prebiotic drink regularly:

How long did you take it before noticing anything?

Did it help with regularity, digestion, or bloating?

Did your stomach need time to adjust at first?

Why do i always feel bloated after meals?

I have been feeling bloated and heavy after almost every meal lately. It’s not sharp pain, more like a constant fullness that makes me uncomfortable for hours. Even breakfast leaves me feeling so bleh, and lunch is the worst. I’ll eat  like a normal portion, but by mid afternoon my stomach feels tight and i get random gurgling or gas.

I drink enough water, try to eat vegetables, and take my daily vitamins, but it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I have even started tracking meals to see if certain foods trigger it, but nothing is super consistent. I am wondering if it’s my gut bacteria, stress, or something else i am not paying attention to. 

Has anyone actually managed to improve digestion and feel lighter after meals without following a crazy diet or wellness routine?
