The interesting cop stories happen out in the field, not behind a desk. But most of the characters are slowly drifting toward desk jobs. Our detectives have been operating that way for a long time already. Realistically, a Watch Commander and at least partly even a Field Sergeant would mostly do the same. Wesley and Bialey aren’t part of the cop team and Grey has always been a desk guy. Even if he became Captain, that probably wouldn’t change much.

So who’s left? Nolan, Miles and Celina. Technically Smitty too, but he spends half his life hiding inside the station. To make the field side feel less empty, they’ve started Tim and Lucy doing things that barely match their actual job descriptions anymore. Tim basically combines two jobs with his magic super-car, while Lucy is pretty much doing the same job as the officers she’s supposed to supervise.

Season 8 filled some of those gaps with Wesleys storyline and with the Task Force cases. The Task Force allowed them to work all together and Wesley was one of the most interesting parts of the season for me. They’re shutting the task force down now. So where exactly is this show heading?

First of all, thanks for voting! The majority of the voters wants to do a full-show rewatch during the break until season 9 will start in early 2027. We open a new thread every Sunday covering 4–5 episodes, starting with season 1.

Everyone who’s interested is welcome to join in and share their thoughts and impressions on the episodes. Whether you want to rewatch and discuss just a few episodes or all of them is totally up to you.
