Ready for the Floor meaning
Hello fellow Hot Chippers ! I would like any opinions on what y’all think Ready for the Floor is about.
I’ve recently found this wonderful little band and the song that has lived rent free in my head for the past month or so has been this one. Now the consensus i found online for what it’s about is: “asking someone to dance,” or something of that nature. But the reason this song has been special to me is because I thought it was pretty obviously a sweet and sad breakup song. The chorus goes:
“Instead of carving up the wall
Why don't you open up with talk?
I am ready, I am ready for a fall”
Which to me sounds like a call to action to break up. I like this because it is made emotionally resonant with the, “Your my number 1 guy,” lyric. A relationship where while the two people still love each other, it’s gotten strained.
I could go into more lyrics but I don’t wanna make this any longer, nor make it too “You MUST see it my way.” But yeah, thoughts, opinions, theories, manifestos? Thanks.
