Surgical residency options in India

This is a CALL FOR HELP to my seniors.
I’ve got 3.9k rank in this years neet pg. and even though I’m a first gen doctor I’ve always prioritised surgery as my go to branch regardless of the challenges that new surgeons face these days especially for someone like me who also hopes to leave abroad to hopefully pursue my career as a surgeon. I don’t think I’ll be able to get any of the colleges in Bombay, BUT WHICH COLLEGES SHOULD BE MY PRIORITY WHILE PICKING COLLEGES DURING MY COUNSELLING (MS OR DNB). I mean in a way that as a resident i can feel confident about daily procedures and a chance to assist difficult cases as well by the time i finish my residency.

Dont wanna give in to the pressure of opting medicine

No reference for this

The questions were quite decent I think… Video questions about the surgical procedures were definitely something new and confused me a bit, all the others regarding clinical signs were quite easy. The questions that I missed out in my revision were the ones that haunted me the most😂

What’s up with paediatric surgery?

I’m sure enough to realise that i wanna pursue my medical career as surgeron. And i got a 7** rank(19th batch) as a general candidate in this years inicet. So obviously I’m not gonna get general surgery or any of the two 6 year super speciality courses i filled in my choices. What’s still an option is paediatric surgery. But it seems like it’s such a niche branch that I haven’t been able to get any feedback from any of my seniors. Also I do plan to apply for licensing exams abroad. So it’s a request to my seniors, someone plz help me out here should i go for paediatric surgery in the open round or try my luck for general surgery in the upcoming neet pg?

Anyone from aiims Kalyani

How’s the pg residency program there? Since it’s pretty far from my place and I’ve got no mutual friends to update me on the infrastructure there, it’s getting pretty hard to get an idea of how the surgical branches are over there. It’s probably the only peripheral aiims I’m considering since Calcutta is like a second home for me. Help me out here

Hardest pill to swallow

Not to be ungrateful or anything but I got 73* rank in inicet as a ur candidate but i feel like this is nothing but a glorified rank so i don’t know whether i should be happy about it or shut myself in my room. Cz what i want is surgery from a decent college or maybe some of the 6 years surgical course from colleges like Rishikesh or Nagpur or maybe Bhopal. But here i am sitting on the borderline only 2 questions away from what would have been the rank which would have brought me back my sanity. It’s not just me ranting but being open to any suggestions from people who’ve been in a similar situation
