May 5th - appointment, same day online status changed to application in progress
May 6th - online status updated to processing at mission
May 8th - passport ready for collection

2 years multiple entry visa. This is our 2nd schengen visa. Weak passport but green card holders (US permanent residents). 1st schengen visa was only valid for 15 days issued 8 months ago by a different schengen member state. So the jump to two years was quite unexpected.

Documents submitted:

Brought every requirement listed on the BLS website but BLS only took what was required from the Spanish consulate checklist. For example, we brought pay stubs and employment letter, but he returned one and only said it’s just one or the other. Also, my employment letter did not have the approval of vacation dates. Only thing they asked that was not on the list was marriage certificate, good thing we brought it

Experience at BLS chicago was smooth. Waiting time was so much longer i’d say about an hour before getting called but actual apppintment for two applicants was only 15 minutes. You have to go to the submission center to check in so they know you’re there

Total fees paid $228 plus the online $40 fee. We picked up during the designated collection time of 3-4pm so no extra fees. These are for two applicants already.
