Advice for first Fall/Christmas craft fair as a new vendor?

Hello there! Apologies as this is my first post on Reddit for this.

I create western style and beaded jewelry, mostly for horse shows and rodeos. (Necklaces, earrings, saddle charms, key chains In beaded peyote stitch or other such beading styles.)

So far I have only been to very small events locally with just a little card table, my wares, and a table cloth.

But I was hoping to attend some of the more “fall” or “holiday” themed events comings up this year

Around what time do yall think it’s good to start making fall/holdiay inventory? This is a side hobby to my main income so I tend to build up inventory over time rather than all at once.

Is there a recommended time frame to have it finished by?

Any and all advice welcome, even harsh and honest.

Thank you!

Where to buy Saltwater microalgae 🦠

Photo of my Aqua dragon glow tank for attention!

I have been following Picoscosmos videos and want to find some saltwater micro algae to start feeding with/start my own culture. But it’s impossible to find near me!

Is there a place to order it online anyone recommends?

Writing advice for”Fantasy Court”

Hello! I am planning out a draft of a medieval vibe (yes there are dragons) fantasy style court run by a monarch.

But I’m trying to do research into what it actually means to “hold court” and what would happen at said court.

I could use all the advice I could get.

It’s loosely modeled after The Red Keep in a “game of thrones” kind of style.

I’m mostly focusing on political maneuvering and the more sleight of hand politics.

Restarting my Aqua dragon tank after DIY fails

I can’t get a good video right now, but I restarted my tank using only my actual aqua dragon tank this time instead of my DIY one. I hope to get an established colony going while I learn to cycle my DIY tank and get better at this whole thing 😅.

Currently set up:

Aqua Dragon Hatch n Grow kit with brine shrimp eggs

Temp 25.5-27.5 depending on sunshine

1.5 hours of direct sun in the morning and indirect sun for the rest of the day

Salinity 33ppt (using distilled water and BioCube marine salt)

This is day three and almost all are pretty active and swimming okay. (An improvement from my DIY tank for sure that didn’t last past day 2 without being translucent and sluggish)

I fed them last night by mixing a VERY SMALL amount of aqua dragon food in some of their water in a cup and putting it back in.

We’ve had some deaths so far but not a mass grave this time. Lots of non hatched eggs at the top.

I have an air pump on low which I switch back and forth between my other tank and this one between when I leave for work and over night. So about ten hours each.

(Sorry for weird photo, I couldn’t get them to show up on camera.)

Floating Substrate?

I bought black aquarium sand and washed it with distilled water till it ran clear. But when I put it in my tank some of its floating at the top. It’s also very clumpy and has a lot of air bubbles in the sand. Despite me trying to shake, tap, and stir the bubbles out.

Help?

I turned up the air pump to try and settle it.

Update on the DIY tank restart

I’m not sure what’s going on, I added a few babies in and they all seem to be predominantly hanging out by the sand and in the bottom of the tank. They are sluggish and not very active.

Temp 26.2 c

Air pump in low

Salt 32ppt

My “Chuck it over there” garden is now growing and I don’t know how to work with it!

Hello all!

I have a spot in my yard that was an “garden” during Covid ages ago. So occasionally my family and I would “chuck” left over table scrap vegetables and other cuttings over there to see if anything stuck.

Quite a bit DID!

I currently have growing:

1 small white Halloween pumpkin vine (with blossoms)

2 Acorn Squash vines over SIX FEET LONG with blossoms AND fruit

Some type of bush bean or navy bean I’m not sure

7 cranberry bean plants

3 of Some type of bell pepper plants

And four different piles of onions with about 3/4 plants in each spot

————-

I have weeded (half-assed) and dug a few trenches around areas so water gets IN the soil. (I live in a VERY sandy part of Florida)

I would like to plant some squash, cucumbers, green beans and maybe some carrots? Or potatoes.

MAIN QUESTIONS:

- when do I harvest cranberry beans? I have several plants that are drying up and wasn’t sure if I should pick them yet and dry them out for storage

- what the heck do I do with this massive acorn squash vine?! Do I put something under the fruit to keep it off the ground? Leave it alone? Do I pick off suckers?

Help??!?!?

Filming Brine shrimp? 📸

Hello! How is everyone filming/photographing their brine shrimp?

I have an iPhone 17pro max I’m still learning the camera on, and while I have a canon—I don’t have a macro lens.

How is everyone filming their brine shrimp and it actually focuses AND looks that clear?!?

DIY tank update: unfortunate restart

Hello all! I’m not sure what factor led to my whole tank crashing.

Possible explanations: too many eggs, too hot heater, feeding too soon.

I hope to start again possibly tomorrow

I feel horrible I let them down.

DIY tank update! First feeding!

So it’s been a little over 48 hours since hatching and I just fed them for the first time! They don’t seem to notice it frankly. Spending most of their time making a ball under the light. 🦐💡

Including a photo of my DIY brine shrimp tank!

So I used brine shrimp eggs about two days ago now and have had a ton of hatches.

I was wondering if I feed them sooner than I would Sea Monkeys as their packet didn’t come with any food inside it.

The tank is about .42 gallon with air stone and built in heater.

Yes the giant smudge in the middle is all hatched babies!

ITS HEEERRREEE!

My little .42 gallon tank from AliExpress arrived yesterday along with the air pump and salt and my little crystal thingy for the bottom.

Still waiting on fresh brine shrimp eggs and the white sand for the bottom.

Now! I’ve heard mixed reviews for how much salt I should add.

After some research I added a tablespoon and a half of marine biocube salt.

Should I add more? Less? Chuck it out the window?

I’m debating between a black sand, with some type of rocks/fake green plant for algae to grow on

Or!

White sand with some pebbles and maybe coral fan or shells for algae to grow on!

I’d love to see everyone’s DIY tanks below for ideas!!!
