A question for Film/TV extras

Hi all,

I’ve been considering film and TV extra work for sometime now, and was hoping to get some advice.

I work on film sets occasionally in crew roles, with most of my working life spent off set as a graphic designer/video editor. I’d love to get more involved with the world of film and am very interested in extra work.

I understand it’s not a solid way to progress as a filmmaker per say, but I’d love to spend more time on set and wouldn’t mind making some extra cash in a field that I’m interested in. I’m based in Greater Manchester, and would be interested in working in the area, alongside places like Liverpool and Leeds.

I was wondering what the best casting agency would be for the North West? I’ve been with Extra People in the past but never actually picked up a gig. Alongside this, I was wondering how often people get offered work on weekends/evenings?

As I say, I’ve never properly delved into the world of extra work and would appreciate any advice.

Thanks
