A friend was assaulted today in a family home by a non-family member. They were pushed, body checked, threatened and had their phone aggressively grabbed, attempting to stop the victim from calling 911. After the police arrived, they spoke with victim. After getting victim’s story they asked if victim wanted a citation or incident, they requested a citation. Then cops spoke with the people inside the home. The perpetrator has a family member that’s a police officer. We’re certain the family connection was mentioned. Cops came out and said they were only doing a citation because “both people were yelling.” What can be done about this after the fact?
