Why did you choose to combo feed?

I really hope that this does not come off as judgemental because I am genuinely trying to understand other people’s perspective and not offend anyone. I have a few new mom friends who currently pump and bottle feed breast milk and recently started talking about combo feeding. I literally just met these people and in the context of the conversation it didn’t feel appropriate to ask them why they were thinking about making that choice but I honestly can’t get it out of my mind. For context, I am a stay at home mom and exclusively breast feed from the boob. I enjoy my feeding experience and am very grateful to have had an easy breastfeeding journey from the start (I know that that is not the case for everyone) so I think I am having a hard time relating to or understanding their experience and I would really like to. Thank you in advance for sharing your experience. And if this post is not allowed in the community, please let me know and I will remove it.

How would you feel if I brought my baby to class?

I practice Mysore style at studio that is not primarily an Ashtanga studio but offers Mysore style classes 4x a week. It is not a very popular class. There is only one other regular who I’ve gotten to know well and typically 1-3 drop ins, if any at all.

My question is - how would you feel if someone brought their baby to class during practice? I have an 8 month old baby who is very well behaved. I would obviously leave if she started crying but she does still make happy noises and would not be completely quiet during class. My teacher and the other regular have both expressed that they’re okay with me brining her. But I respect my teacher and I want the class to grow for her sake. I don’t want to turn other people away from attending the class if they drop in and see a baby there. I don’t think it would bother me if the shoe was on the other foot, but maybe I’m not seeing it clearly because I’m a new mom.

I also work at the studio and can see the sign ups on the back end. I would not take her if it’s a very busy class but I obviously can’t predict walk ins. I’m not planning for this to be a regular thing. Just every once in a while when I don’t have someone to watch her.
