Hitoma Iruma’s August 2026 Diary

Source: https://kakuyomu.jp/works/1177354054897444952/episodes/2912051605563381227

Hello. I’ve been really busy lately. Though, of course, I suppose it’s better than not being busy at all.

Work is a beautiful thing while you still have it.

Lately, unusually enough, I’ve been watching anime every week. Goodbye, Lara. It made me wonder if the dialects of Shiga and Gifu might actually be fairly similar. Speaking of Shiga, I suddenly remembered something from a long time ago. I once told someone I had come from Gifu, and they replied, “Ah, that’s where Lake Biwa is, right?”

No, it isn’t.

Oh, and speaking of which, Imouto Life has gone into another reprint. For some reason, that’s been happening quite often lately. Why now? Why? I really don’t know, but thank you very much.

Also, Adachi and Shimamura is coming out next month. I wrote quite a lot of bonus short stories, so I imagine some of them will be included with certain editions or retailer-exclusive bonuses, while others won’t. If you’re interested, I hope you’ll give it a look.

As for Married Woman from a Happy Family, regarding its publication on Kakuyomu Next, only the first volume will be posted there. At present, I’m not planning to post Volume 2 onward.

I figured that, even if it’s a paid service, letting updates fall behind because of a simple mistake just isn’t acceptable. If I were the one paying for it, I’d honestly be pretty annoyed too. So, if there’s anyone reading this diary who subscribed specifically for that content, please take note and make the appropriate arrangements.

Other than that... nothing in particular.

Summer is nice, isn't it? You can hear the cicadas, but there’s also something a little lonely about how their cries gradually become fewer and fewer.

That’s all for today. See you again.

References

[1] Imouto Life (いもーとらいふ)

A two-volume light novel by Hitoma Iruma, illustrated by Fly and published by Dengeki Bunko in 2016. The novel follows a brother and sister throughout their lives, beginning in childhood and eventually reaching old age. The two volumes use different perspectives to explore their unusually deep emotional interdependence.

Iruma's mention of another reprint refers to Imouto Life receiving yet another print run despite having originally concluded in 2016.

[2] Adachi and Shimamura (安達としまむら)

The release mentioned here is accompanied by numerous bonus/exclusive short stories, some of which are distributed through participating Japanese retailers and bookstores such as Melon Books, Gamers, Animate, and Toranoana. Different stores may therefore offer different stories as purchase bonuses.

These bonuses are generally Japanese-market-exclusive material and may not be included with the standard edition or overseas releases.

[3] Woman from a Happy Family (円満家庭の人妻)

Hitoma Iruma’s another work about a married woman whose seemingly happy family life is disrupted after she meets her daughter’s friend.

[4] Kakuyomu Next

A paid serialization service operated by Kadokawa.

AdaShimaverse — Beta Release

Good day, everyone!

After an unreasonable amount of research, cataloguing, translation hunting, and Adachi and Shimamura-related rabbit holes, AdaShimaverse is finally available in beta.

And that only covers the archive side of things.

There was also the development side: the late nights, debugging, figuring out how to turn random ideas into actual website features, fixing things that somehow broke after being fixed, and generally spending far too much time thinking about Adachi and Shimamura.

So, after a lot of work, AdaShimaverse is finally here.

Extra Stories

The main novels and manga aren't the only material available.

The Extra Stories section currently contains 41 English-translated stories, along with bonus chapters and other supplementary material.

A lot of these stories and extras can be scattered across different releases, so gathering everything into one place became a major part of the archive.

Translation Credits

AdaShimaverse originally started as a Spanish-language archive before expanding to include English-language material.

For the English translations provided by Sneikkimies and Cuetie Scans, permission was requested and received before inclusion in the archive. Credits are provided accordingly on the website.

🔧 What's Next?

AdaShimaverse is still a work in progress.

The site is currently in beta, so more material, corrections, features, and general improvements will be added over time. There are also plenty of smaller things that still need polishing.

The Changelog in the About section keeps track of updates and changes made throughout development.

Feedback, corrections, suggestions, and bug reports are all welcome. A feedback function is available on the homepage, and comments on this post are also open for discussion.

For now, though, it's nice to finally have the website available.

We hope AdaShimaverse can be a useful resource for exploring more of the series.

Thanks for checking it out!

[Hitoma Iruma] Adachi and Shimamura SS3 Volume Cover

On sale September 10 (Japan).

Since no one has posted about it yet, I figured I'd share it here. Personally, I think this is the most eye-catching cover we've gotten so far.

Description 1:

In addition to Her Memories, which depicts an episode from a trip the two take after becoming university students, this third short story collection also includes many newly written stories.

Source: https://x.com/bunko_dengeki/status/2085297326265147485

Description 2:

An even more ordinary look at the ordinary days of the two of them.

The third collection of short stories, featuring many newly written entries.

"Shimamura, do people from work ever invite you out to lunch or anything?"

"Well, every now and then."

".........................................."

"What's with that look?"

"Don't get the wrong idea. It's not like I'm that kind of person... you know, the possessive type."

"That's quite the lie you're telling."

From their everyday life at home, to trips to the supermarket, and even across the sea, the ordinary lives of the two continue.

The third collection of short stories, packed with many brand-new pieces.

Images shown, including the cover and obi band, may differ from the final product.
