Haiden Deegan:

“I just wanna be a bad dude. I just want to prove people wrong- that’s all I’m in it for.”

What the fuck is this kid talking about? Nobody is doubting you. He gets all these theories in his head and harps on them. The only people who talk shit do so when he’s talking some shit like this. Shouldn’t you want to be on the bike cause you love it? Say that. I swear nobody talks about this kid as much as himself. I know it’s ironic that I make this post, but fuck…. he’s so annoying. Just like when he tried to get aggressive on that last race and ended up eating shit, bouncing off of Davies (I loved seeing that). Then he was so flustered, he crashed in the sand. He pretended he loved that, he couldn’t show how much that bothered him. Why couldn’t he just ride and win and be humble? If he was humble, he would be the total package. But he hangs around all clowns and people with a huge douchebag nature- it’s bound to rub off. I want to like this kid but he has no redeeming qualities other than he’s a total ripper. Sorry for the rant, I’m trying to watch one of his latest edits and it’s so hard to listen to him speak. And he looks like a kiwi fruit/ nut sack with that haircut he just got.

I tried just burning the lump several times, without cooking and got the same results with trying different methods. I think it was that one shitty bag. I picked up some Jealous Devil briquettes and the results speak volumes. So I want to say a big THANK YOU to everyone that helped. Here’s some updated pics on my last cook with briquettes from yesterday’s taco Monday (I do not subscribe to another mortal man’s taco Tuesday laws).

I cannot get this lump charcoal to burn hot or stay lit! I posted a pic of my grill on the second slide so you can see what I’m working with. I’ve tried three separate times. One of the times i had baffles and chimney open about 4/5 of the way, and the charcoal sitting above the side baffles. (This grill has a crank that allows you to raise and lower the lit charcoal). The other time was the exact same, except I lowered charcoals to just at or below baffle level for a cross breeze.

Every single time the charcoals will not bring the temp up past 350°. I have a natural fire starter that I put under my charcoal chimney, and I let the chimney get glowing red hot, and stop smoking. 20-30 minutes. Is this a shitty brand? Am I doing something wrong? Do I need to let them sit in the chimney even longer? Getting B&B or Jealous Devil briquettes in the next few days for a cook to see if it’s the grill. Any and all help is much appreciated! I look forward to speaking with my fellow brethren about this long and storied past time of grilling. Two clicks of the tongs and I’m out!

EDIT: Through everyone’s help here, I have came to the conclusion that this grill, along with lump charcoal isn’t designed for beginners. And the charcoal is also just shit, and inconsistent. It’s too big to get that hot with one charcoal chimney. I’m going to get another chimney, and also put a base layer of lump down. Then dump two chimneys worth of charcoal over a base of lump. Or, not add a base layer, and just use two chimneys worth of charcoal. I have done most of what everyone suggested durning one of my previous cooks. I really appreciate everyone’s help here. Except the couple of “too cool” grillers that just spew words without any help. It wouldn’t be complete without the clowns adding their two cents.
